Some homes on the Outer Banks carry something worth keeping. The Winslow Cottage — built in the 1930s and long connected to the history of Nags Head — was that kind of place. When the owners came to us needing more space, tearing it down wasn’t an option. So we lifted the entire structure, brick chimney included, 27 feet into the air, built two new stories beneath it, and set it back down. The cottage still defines the spirit of the property today.
That project is a good example of how we work. Brian Smith and the Smith Contracting team build and remodel on the Outer Banks with the same intention every time — to honor what’s already special about a place and make it better. Whether it’s a new custom home, a commercial space, or a home that’s been in your family for decades, we take it seriously.
